from the bunny

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Now as you know I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator but that doesn't mean I don't use other companies products! One of the reasons I am with Stampin' Up! is that I believe they have quality products available at the right price point in the paper creations market. But I am always on the look out for new products from other companies that offer this too.

Today I am going to highlight a couple of recent releases/purchases of mine and discuss a few other companies that I love.

First up is Papertrey Ink - and in my eyes they can do no wrong. Nichole and her team produce amazing innovative products every month - you can check back through my blog here and my previous one for all the love that I give their products. One DT member is my all time favourite - the amazing Laura Bassen. You can see recent cards of mine using their products here and here. My card for the February 2015 blog hop was featured in their March newsletter.

Next is a French company 4enScrap. I discovered this company last year when I attended Scrap'Ain. They release new products around 4 times a year and I love their simple style. This card showcases one of their recent releases and uses the partial die cutting technique ~

The third company I would like to highlight is Clearly Besotted. Stephanie is such a lovely person and her Design Team are amazing - I mean both Debby Hughes and Michelle Short for monthly inspiration - nothing better! Here is a Christmas card shaker card that I made with their products ~

Finally Lil'Inkers - amazing stamps and dies from them and they have just recently changed their shipping policy to Europe :) Here is an Easter project I completed recently, it comes in a bundle so you get the stamps and the dies ~

Of course there are many more companies out there and it's so much fun finding them! Thanks for reading, I hope you find some inspiration here, have a beautiful day.x

easter card using a christmas set

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am here to share an Easter card that uses a Christmas stamp set. A couple of weeks ago for Mother's Day I used the same Stampin' Up! stamp and die bundle - Wonderous Wreath to create a card and you can see it here and follow the tutorial (click on any pink words in my blog posts and it will take you to the links).

Here is my Easter version ~

And the full card at a higher resolution ~

This time I used Melon Mambo card stock as an accent and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to add some texture to my card.

Just a reminder that the Sale-a-Bration event is drawing to a close next Tuesday and your opportunity to earn free stamps and other goodies from Stampin' Up! will end as of midnight on 31 March 2015. So if you fancy treating yourself you could pop the Wonderous Wreath bundle, the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder and a set of Basic Pearl Jewel Accents into your basket in my Stampin' Up! Online Shop and get to choose one of the many free items available.

I hope you have a great weekend and create something beautiful.x

ink blended easter egg

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am sharing a card that was inspired by the awesome Laura Bassen, the Queen of ink blending. First I die cut an oval and then used the negative space as a mask to help ink blend together some yummy colours for Easter ~

Isn't that gorgeous, here is my full card in a higher resolution ~

The colours I blended are Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette (naturally!), So Saffron, Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana.

After stamping the sentiment I then die cut the same sized shape from the front of my card and adhered the blended piece to the inside of the card so that it pops through the front. I die cut a bow and after ink blending the edges, added to the front of the card.

Here is another photo so you can see the construction in more detail ~

I will be back tomorrow with another Easter card, this time using a non traditional stamp set. Have a beautiful day.x

papertrey ink blog hop | march 2015

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am joining in with the March 2015 Papertrey Ink blog hop. We were given a photo as inspiration with the Spring colours of yellow, aqua, blue and green.

Here is my card ~

And here is the inspiration ~

For this card I used the Life is Beautiful stamp set - yes still can't put it down, still my favourite!

The ink colours I chose were Harvest Gold, Limeade Ice, Aqua Mist, Spring Rain and Hawaiian Shores. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold.

And because I have been super creative this month - check out my blog posts on side bar - I have blogged nearly every day with a paper creation of some sort - I have another card using similar colours ~

I used the Monthly Moments - November stamp set for the background and the sentiment and added a vellum die cut butterfly from the Life is Beautiful set (yes again!!)

I hope you like my creations and remember if you are joining in with the hop please leave me a comment so that I can visit your blog and give your cards some love too.

Have a beautiful day.x

easter chick treat holder

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am here with a little treat holder, that I have fashioned into a chick for Easter. I have seen lots of these recently on Pinterest and Facebook so I was impatient to give it a try with the products that I had to hand.

Here is mine ~

Two of my school children are leaving on Thursday and I shall miss them dearly, so I have made another and they will be my little gift to them with some chocolate for Easter.

I have used a die from 4enScrap which is now retired but in my Stampin' Up! online store there is an alternative that will work perfectly, it is the Curvy Keepsake Box thinlits die.

I have used three different punches to achieve the beak, the feet and the wings. Here is a tutorial on how to make these pieces ~

~ Tutorial ~
  • For the beak use the heart shape punch from the Itty Bitty punch pack. You need to cut a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock that is about 5cm in length and 3cm wide and score in half. Then position your paper so that the fold is at the top of the heart, pull it towards you a little and punch. This will mean that the  top curve of the heart will not cut through all of the fold and you will get this shape ~

  • For the feet take the 1 1/4" Scallop circle punch and the Tangelo Twist card stock and punch a shape. Cut it in half and then count three scallops and cut to the centre to produce this shape ~

  • For the wings take the Scallop Oval Punch and some Hello Honey card stock, punch a shape and use your bone folder to gently create a curve to the card stock
I got some silly eyes from a craft shop but you could use smaller punches and card stock to ensure they are totally child friendly!

All that is left is to fill them with chocolate or treats (of course you may sample them to check they are ok!) give them to the recipient and watch them smile.

I hope you enjoyed this project, have a beautiful day.x

watercolour smooshing easter card | video tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Easter is fast approaching - 5 April 2015, so over the next two weeks I will have some cards and paper creations to share with you. You can subscribe to my blog and monthly newsletter by links on the right sidebar.

Today as promised I am here with a video tutorial for watercolour smooshing using Stampin' Up! Write Markers. Last week I shared a card with this effect and originally I followed a tutorial on a MakeitMonday challenge by Papertrey Ink. This is the stamp set that I am using today ~

In the video I show you two backgrounds created using this set and the Stampin' Up! In Colour 2014/16 set of Stampin' Write markers and the 2013/15 set of Stampin' Write markers. This is the card that I went on to finish ~

This one uses the 2013/15 markers and the French equivalent of the Happy Easter Bunny stamp - this stamp set in English is wood mount and it is awesome. It is also available in German in clear mount.

There are so many ways you can use this set, as an outline stamp it can be coloured or painted or it could be heat embossed as I have done above.

To construct my card I have die cut the panel using an oval die and then die cut a larger oval. These panels have been popped on foam adhesive for dimension and then some butterflies added, the large one is a slider that can pass around the oval space in the card front.

Here is my video showing the smooshing effect, you can watch here or at YouTube (watch in HD!) and please give me a thumbs up if you like it and would like to see more videos from me ~

Here is my supply list, remember each 60€/£45 spend gives you a free item from the Sale-a-Bration goodies! You still have time to order this beautiful stamp set and create with it in time for Easter!

I hope you enjoyed the video tutorial and found it useful, I'd love to hear your feedback. I'll be back tomorrow with an Easter treat holder - and it includes a tutorial - don't miss it! Have a beautiful day.x

happy spring | floral baskets and wreaths

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today is the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. So in celebration of the forthcoming warmer days and more daylight hours I thought I would highlight some beautiful Springtime projects for you to construct with some gorgeous Stampin' Up! products.

My first project to share with you is a beautiful basket of flowers ~

The great thing about this basket is that it lasts forever! The flowers are constructed so easily with the Spiral Flower Original Die. I did a double take when I saw this die in the Catalogue - it is super value for money and you can cut 2 or 3 flowers at once with your Big Shot die cutting machine. Here is a close up of the blooms ~

The basket can also be easily constructed with the Berry Basket die. With the current Sale-A-Bration offer you could pop both the the Spiral Flower and Berry Basket dies in your shopping bag in my Online Store and choose a free item from the goodies on offer for Sale-A-Bration. In fact the sentiment on the front of the basket is from one of the free sets *Simply Wonderful*. Remember this offer ends on 31 March 2015.

My next project to share with you also uses the Spiral Flower die, this time to decorate a straw wreath ~

This wreath in slightly different colours is one of the items we will be creating at my next Atelier on 28 March 2015. If you are local to me and are interested in attending please contact me and I will let you have details. Please be advised that I have limited places available so book up quickly!

Here is a close up again of the beautiful flowers ~

To complete the floral part of this wreath I also used the Pansy Punch and the Petite Petals Punch and some buttons. The hanger is constructed with the beautiful White Jute Ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed my Springtime projects and I wish you a great weekend. I will be back on Monday with a video tutorial and the start of my Easter projects.x

nature's perfection watercolour | sale-a-bration | tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I am continuing with my Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration spotlight and have some more cards to share using the Nature's Perfection free stamp set. The other day I shared some inked cards and today I am here with some watercolour ones to highlight just how versatile this set is. Here is a reminder of the full set ~

Here is my first card ~

And I have a mini tutorial for you on how to achieve this card

~ Tutorial ~
  • Take a piece of watercolour card stock and prep with your embossing buddy to remove any static from the paper
  • Mount your stamp onto the acrylic block and stamp with Versamark ink and then cover with your embossing powder - I have used gold
  • Heat with your heat gun until all the embossing powder has melted
  • Fill your Aqua Painter with water and cover the area of the flower that you are going to work on first with a coat of water - I started at the middle of the flower and worked out.
  • After removing your stamp from the acrylic block use your Stampin' Write marker with the brush tip end and scribble about 5 strokes onto your acrylic block - I used the Strawberry Slush marker
*** You can use your ink pad or your ink refills too - squish the ink pad onto the acrylic block or add a drop or 2 from your refill to the block***
  • Then ensure you have water on the tip of the Aqua Painter pick up the colour from your acrylic block and transfer to your image.
  • This will produce the watercolour effect and you can intensify or soften the colour on your stamped image depending on how much water you have on your brush tip.
  • I work a little area and then let it dry (you can use your heat gun to speed up the process) and then you can add more colour and shading to the petals
  • After the flower head is completely dry make sure your Aqua Painter brush tip is clean and go around the outside edge of the flower with water.
  • Then put another colour on your acrylic block - I used Coastal Cabana - and go around the outside edge of your flower
  • When your watercolour card stock is completely dry you add a sentiment and finish the card as you wish
Here is a close up of the water colouring ~

You can achieve a beautiful hand painted look with just a few supplies. And the great thing is that each card will be unique!

Here is my second card, this time I used the Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write markers ~

To finish this card I die cut out the bloom and added to the front of an embossed panel with a sentiment heat embossed in gold.

Here are my main supplies and if you click on them it will take you straight to my online store - remember this stamp set (or any item from the sale-a-bration catalogues) is free (only until 31 March 2015) with a 60€/£45 spend ~

watercolour smooshing | sale-a-bration

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am highlighting a card made with this free stamp set ~

Not long ago I created a card for a Papertrey Ink challenge that involved watercolour smooshing. And today I am sharing a card that I made using the Stampin' Up! water based dye ink markers. Here it is ~

I have gold embossed one of the sentiments from a stamp set that you can get free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration AND this is a new stamp set that has just been added for March (I have the French version, there is also one available in German)

Isn't that an awesome stamp set? Here is a close up of my gold embossed sentiment ~

I will have a video tutorial next week featuring this technique using the Stampin' Up! markers - so please subscribe to either my YouTube channel or my blog feed via email (links on right hand side) or Bloglovin' to ensure that you don't miss it!

Here are my supplies ~
